The Southborough Valley Project

Firstly, thank you for your interest in our community archaeology project. We are always happy to have new volunteers come on board an try their hand at real archaeology. Whether it is for a few hours or the whole weekend, we are sure once you have sampled it - you'll be hooked!
Southborough & High Brooms Amateur Archaeology Society (SHAAS) has been set up to explore the archaeological landscape of the Southborough Valley, near Tunbridge Wells. The SHAAS excavation is directed by a professional archaeologists and supported by a number of members with professional training in the heritage sector. The main aim of SHAAS is to encourage the local community to get involved with the exciting new archaeology developing in the Southborough and High Brooms area. 




Membership is FREE. For an application to join contact us via Facebook or email directly on southborougharchaeology@gmail.com. We are a hands on society so expect to be digging excavations, recording finds and contribute to the area's evolving history! 


THE SHAAS excavation site has now closed for the winter but it will reopen again in the spring. We will be running Archaeology Principles & Practices seminars throughout the winter for our members.
